In order to teach our child to read it is important to build the foundation for their lifelong learning and reading success. 


Here are the very important things to know or to be guided before they learn to read.

1. Motivation to Read.


  • Let your children show an interest in books and reading.
  • Ask you to read aloud.
  • Pretend to read at least for some few minutes.
  • Let your child pick what book he or she wants to read.
  • Read to your child everyday.
  • Read with enthusiasm.

                        

2. Knowing how to speak that is definitely the language skills.

Children need to have language skills before learning how to read so they can describe things and share their knowledge and ideas. Without the language skills it is really difficult to communicate and so no further advancement in reading.

3. Concepts of Prints.

Children need to learn to know the concept of books and its prints.
  • Use your finger to track the words.
  • Point to the parts of a book such as the front cover, title, and author.
  • Let your child hold the book, turn the pages, and point to the words as you read.



4. Knowledge of Letters.

Letter knowledge is understanding that the letters of the alphabet have different names and sounds. Let you teach them through many ways like reading the letters with them, reminding once again and again, make them write as well, singing  with the letters, sight words and phonics.

                 

5. Phonological Awareness And Tips.

Phonological Awareness is hearing and understanding that that words are made up of smaller sounds.You can teach them through ryhmes, playing word games, reading various children stories.
